In an awkward moment, President Joe Biden announced he’d become a great-grandfather while at a news conference discussing the deadly wildfires that are raging unchecked across Los Angeles County, California.
“The good news is, I’m a great-grandfather as of today,” Biden, 82, announced during a briefing on the fires that have killed at least two people and destroyed more than 1,000 buildings. “I’ll remember this day for a lot of reasons.”
Biden spent 40 minutes at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with First Lady Jill Biden and other family members, including son Hunter, visiting his granddaughter Naomi, 31, who delivered via scheduled C-section. The president initially announced the birth of a “10-pound baby girl” before correcting himself to say “baby boy.”
Incredibly, it seems Democrats can still actually tell the difference between the two genders.
Critics bashed the moment as insensitive, considering how many tens of thousands of lives had been upended and destroyed.

After the hospital visit, Biden traveled to a Santa Monica fire station where he pledged federal support for firefighting efforts.
“We’re doing anything and everything,” Biden said, flanked by California Gov. Gavin Newsom and Sen. Alex Padilla. “It’s astounding what’s happening.”
“Only one piece of good news: my son lives out here and his wife. They got a notification yesterday that their home was probably burned to the ground. Today, it appears that it’s still standing, they’re not sure,” Biden said regarding Hunter’s Malibu residence.
Hunter’s house had actually burned to the ground, and only two chimney remained. Take a look here.
Naomi Biden, an attorney with international law firm Arnold & Porter, revealed her pregnancy in an Instagram post after voting in the November election. She and husband Peter Neal, 27, were married on the White House lawn in November 2022.
Biden had previewed the birth in a USA Today interview published earlier Wednesday. “I’m about to be a great-grandfather, Jesus God,” he told reporter Susan Page. “But Naomi, [Hunter’s] oldest, [is] about to, I’m going out to California. She’s due to have a caesarean on the 8th of January.”
