Say what you want about Donald Trump, but one thing you can’t argue is that is campaign tactics are extremely unique.

To the point where you sometimes tip your hat to the man for his originality.

Trump’s unique campaigning was on full display this weekend.

In a move nobody predicted or saw coming, Trump suited up for a Sunday shift at a Pennsylvania McDonald’s and worked the drive-thru window.

Here’s the proof.

The move, of course, is highlighted allegations that Vice President Kamala Harris never worked at a McDonald’s during her college career as she apparently claimed on her resume.

During his “shift” Trump mocked Harris’s alleged employment at the fast-food restaurant.

“I listen to Kamala, she said, ‘it was so hot. It was so hot, it was such a tough job,” Trump recalled Harris’s apparent remarks about frying french fries.

Political theater aside, when asked about why he did it, Trump highlighted that it was important to be amongst working class voters and to celebrate their hard work.

After working the fryer at McDonald’s, I asked Trump if he thinks the minimum wage should be raised: “Well I think this. These people work hard. They’re great. And I just saw something… a process that’s beautiful,” Trump said. pic.twitter.com/pg2synNA59

The McDonald’s move, seems to be working for Trump, so surged to to top of national polls over the weekend.

According to RealClearPolitics polling averages, Trump is now leading Harris nationally among likely voters:

  • TIPP poll: Trump 49%, Harris 47%.
  • Atlas Intel poll: Trump 51%, Harris 48%.

The national polling surge could prove to be quite momentous for the Trump campaign, according to insiders.

Historically, Republican candidates leading nationally, or garnering the popular vote in presidential elections, is very rare because of the large Democrat strongholds in the country’s biggest states of California, New York, and Illinois. Those states have very large majorities of registered Democrats compared to Republicans.

The national poll lead is significant, according to both former presidential adviser Dick Morris and pollsters John and Jim McLaughlin.

They noted that even a slight deficit to a Democrat in national polling is essentially a Republican victory in the Electoral College, because the race truly comes down to the seven battleground states.

Trump leads every single one of the seven battlegrounds in the RealClearPolitics polling averages:

  • Arizona (11 Electoral College votes): Trump up 1.6 points (49%-47.4%)
  • Georgia (16): Trump up 1.8 points (48.8%-47%)
  • Michigan (15): Trump up 1.2 points (48.8%-47.6%)
  • North Carolina (16): Trump up 0.5 points (48.4%-47.9%)
  • Nevada (6): Trump up 0.8 points (47.7%-46.9%)
  • Pennsylvania (19): Trump up 0.7 points (48.1%-47.4%)
  • Wisconsin (10): Trump up 0.2 points (48%-47.8%)
