It is no great secret that former President Donald Trump is gearing up for a 2024 presidential run.
Trump has a plan in place and wants a rematch of the 2020 election against President Joe Biden. Trump bluntly told New York Magazine in July that a decision had already been made, and that he was simply waiting for the right timing to formally announce his candidacy.
What remains unknown is who will run as Trump’s vice presidential candidate.
But it won’t be former Vice President Mike Pence, Trump told the authors of the new book The Divider: Trump in the White House, 2017-2021.
“It would be totally inappropriate” to bring Pence back to the Trump campaign ticket.
“Mike committed political suicide” on January 6th, 2021 when he certified the electoral college vote, Trump said.
The 45th president also recently ruled out a second choice for his would-be 2024 running mate: Ivanka Trump.
During an interview with NDTV on Sep. 8, Trump rejected rumors that he’d pick Ivanka as his second-in-command.
“What about the media buzz that Ivanka might be your running mate?” NDTV host Sreenivasan Jain asked.
“My daughter? I’ve never thought of that one!” Trump joked. “Oh, that’s an interesting idea.
“It has been in the media for a while,” Jain pointed out.
“That one, I’d not heard of,” Trump said. “She’s a very capable person, I can tell you that. But I hadn’t heard that one.”
Trump said he wouldn’t consider Ivanka as a running mate, as it would be inappropriate.
