“On the Holmes Front” with Frank Holmes
There’s an old saying, “In politics, six weeks is an eternity.”
But now, almost five months away from the general election, President Donald Trump is favored to win the 2024 presidential election—and he’s not wasting a minute to make sure he maximizes his time in power.
Trump outlined a huge agenda to save America this week as he met with congressional leaders.
He doesn’t want to face the same problems as the 47th president that he did as 45th president: congressional leaders like former House Speaker Paul Ryan who were pursuing their own agenda, Deep State bureaucrats unwilling to carry out the law, and disloyal Republicans stabbing him in the back.
This time, he’s going to do as much in the first year as he did in his entire first term.
In his meeting with congrssional leaders, he spelled out how he plans to save the country from the morass created by Barack Obama’s third term, officially known as the Biden administration.
Trump plans to make every aspect of America safe again, according to sources inside the meeting.
All Republicans agree the president must renew the tax cuts that are set to expire at the end of the year as part of his first-term signature 2017 Tax Cuts and Jobs Act. Otherwise, middle-class Americans will face a huge tax increase.
“We should hit the ground running with a positive, progrowth, projobs agenda that focuses on tax reform and regulatory reform,” said Senator Ted Cruz.
But, Trump said, that’s just the tip of the iceberg.
He’s considering protecting American jobs with a 10 percent, across-the-board tariff on every foreign product imported into the United States—and some products, like electric vehicles from China—will see a 200 percent tariff.
He will lift permit restrictions that stop Americans from exploring America’s enormous, untapped energy reserves.
Trump has said the key phrase in his next four years is going to be, “Drill, Baby, Drill!”
Trump only plans to appoint loyal Republicans to posts—possibly only those who still claim that the 2020 election was stolen.
He’s fired up, according to everyone with knowledge of the meeting. “That was the most energized I’ve ever seen him,” said Rep. Ralph Norman, R-S.C.
And that’s only half of it. Donald Trump is also going to clear-cut the Deep State by filing an executive order that reclassifies whole categories of federal employees so they can be fired—and replaced with people who will actually do the jobs they’re hired to do.
He wants to seal America’s southern border and hand out the death penalty to human traffickers.
At home, he plans to end the racist racket that goes by the name “Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion” (DEI), closing all federal government DEI programs and telling colleges their curriculum must “ defend American tradition and Western civilization.”
He also plans to outlaw transgender surgeries and other procedures on gender-confused minors.
It’s a huge agenda—and he knows it.
“He’s pretty clear that they want to try to go big, and that means more than just extending the tax cuts,” said Senator John Cornyn, R-Texas.
A second Trump term has so much to do, he’s getting everyone to attend—well, almost everyone. Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska both skipped the meeting.
Even Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell of Kentucky—who hasn’t spoken to Trump since he criticized the presient for the January 6th riot—showed up at the meeting and called it “really positive.”
But there’s one problem: Even if Republicans maintain control of the House and win a majority in the Senate, they will not likely have enough votes to beat a filibuster, which takes 60 votes.
But Trump has a plan for that, too.
He and congressional leaders picked out items to put into the next special budget reconciliation package—a must-pass bill that does not need 60 votes to become law.
The Senate’s Byrd Rule requires that everything in the package be related to spending, finance, and economics—but that could help move a big part of Trump’s agenda. It could be especially big if congressional leaders are on board with him and are willing to be creative.
Trump is so willing to take enormous strides early in his term, because he realizes the importance of his success.
He used the term ‘saving the country’” in the meeting said Rep. August Pfluger, R-Texas.
Trump is correcting past mistakes and moving fast to fix the problems his successor has created.
November can’t come soon enough. If there isn’t a change in the presidency soon, there will be nothing left to save.
