Donald Sutherland, a famous actor known for roles in movies like “M.A.S.H.” and “The Hunger Games,” has died at 88 years old. His son, Kiefer Sutherland, confirmed the news on social media.

Sutherland was a tall, Canadian actor with a unique smile. He was known for playing unusual characters, like Hawkeye Pierce in “M.A.S.H.” and a hippie tank commander in “Kelly’s Heroes.” He started his career in the 1970s and kept working until his death.

Born in New Brunswick, Canada, Sutherland first studied engineering but later switched to acting.

He started in British theater and TV before moving to America. His big break came with war movies like “The Dirty Dozen” and “M.A.S.H.”

Sutherland worked with many famous directors and starred in important films of the 1970s.

He had a relationship with actress Jane Fonda and was married three times. He had five children, including actor Kiefer Sutherland.

In the 1980s, Sutherland’s career changed as he started playing more serious roles. He starred in “Ordinary People,” which won several Oscars. Though he never won an Oscar himself, he did receive an honorary one in 2017. He also won an Emmy and two Golden Globes for his TV work.

Sutherland continued acting in both movies and TV shows throughout his life. He played roles in popular series like “The Hunger Games” and worked on HBO projects. He loved acting and said, “I love to work. I passionately love to work.”

Throughout his long career, Sutherland showed he could play many different types of characters.

He was known for his dedication to his craft and his ability to imbue some personalities with onscreen charisma. His passing marks the end of a significant era in television history.
