On Tuesday, the Vice Chair of Civic Engagement and Voter Participation of the National Committee spilled the beans for all Democrats when she publicly called for the complete repeal of the Second Amendment.
Louisiana Democratic Party Chairwoman Karen Cater Peterson shared a tweet of the infamous New York Times op-ed written by former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens and added just four words: “Repeal the Second Amendment.”

Conservatives jumped on the ugly tweet. Critics called it proof that Democrats want a total repeal of the Second Amendment — and will push repeal after the 2018 midterm elections.
Peterson’s tweet caused Louisiana Democratic Party Executive Director Stephen Handwerk to scramble to cover up her major mistake.
According to USA Today, Handwerk said he’s “a strong supporter of the Second Amendment” that protects Americans’ rights to bear arms.
Rep. Ralph Abraham, R-La. who is a potential challenger to Democratic Louisiana Gov. John Bel Edwards, had much to say on Peterson’s nasty demands.
“I am a staunch supporter of the Second Amendment. It is a core right that’s guaranteed to us by the Constitution,” Abraham said. “I am very troubled that the head of the Louisiana Democratic Party would support something as radical as the repeal of this right that so many in our state and nation cherish and exercise lawfully.”
He continued, “Her statements should make everyone question just who the Democratic Party stands for: average Americans or the extreme left?”
Peterson’s tweet angered many Twitter users.
The Bill of Rights is to limit government, not the people. Those rights are given to us by God, not you. You took an oath to faithfully defend the Constitution of The United States. I did too. You are in violation of that oath and WILL be removed from office.

Peterson’s tweet is a reflection of the philosophy of the Democratic party, critics say. The Democrats want to strip Americans of their rights, they say… starting with your right to defend oneself.
Abraham says this “could be the first salvo on a planned attack on other Constitutional Rights.”
