Former President Donald Trump’s goal of finishing the “big, beautiful wall” across the entire U.S.-Mexico border was stymied by Democratic Party leaders for years.
While Trump secured much of the border, other parts remained open — and the wall remained unfinished — thanks to Democratic opposition.
Republican leaders, led by Texas Gov. Greg Abbott and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, have since taken matters into their own hands and began busing thousands of illegal immigrants into Democratic-run cities.
Faced with sharing the burden of President Joe Biden’s open border policies over the past two years, securing the U.S.-Mexico border has suddenly become popular among Democratic voters.
Funny how that happens?
Since 2022, Texas alone has bused more than 55,000 illegals to deep blue cities — overwhelming so-called “sanctuary cities” the same way Texas towns have been overwhelmed for years.
Now, Democrats are fed up.
An NBC News survey found “roughly 3 in 4 registered voters — 74% — support more funding for security along the U.S. border with Mexico, including 93% of Republicans, 74% of independents and 58% of Democrats.”
That’s not an isolated poll.
According to The Washington Post —
Even Democrats in this Siena College poll are saying things that sound somewhat reminiscent of the views of immigration hawks in the GOP:
-
Nearly as many New York Democrats said migrants coming to the state over the past 20 years have been a “burden” (35 percent) as said they have been a “benefit” (37 percent).
-
75 percent of New York Democrats said the recent influx of migrants to the state was at least a “somewhat serious” problem. Nearly half (47 percent) said it was a “very serious” problem.
-
53 percent of New York Democrats agreed with the statement that “New Yorkers have already done enough for new migrants and should now work to slow the flow of migrants to New York.” (The alternative was that the state should “accept new migrants and work to assimilate them into New York,” a position with which 41 percent of the Democratic respondents agreed.)
In fact, there’s mountains of evidence that Democratic voters, faced with the results of the illegal immigrant surge, are shifting to the Republican camp.
71% of independent voters, and 30% of Democrats, say they disapprove of Biden’s mishandling of illegal immigration.
A majority of Democrats told Fox News this month they were “very” worried about border security; 75% told Fox News the U.S.-Mexico border was an “emergency” or at least a “major problem” — which is almost double from 2019.
Voters — even Democrats — are fed up with Biden’s failed open border policies… and everyone is finally starting to agree that Trump was right.
Build the wall.
