Conspiracy, or confirmed? Justin Trudeau = Castro’s son, hints daughter

A conspiracy theory about former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s being the son of Cuban dictator Fidel Castro is making headlines again… and for eyebrow raising reasons.

This time, Fidel Castro’s own daughter gave a carefully worded answer when asked about it on live television.

Alina Fernandez, one of Castro’s 11 known children and a prominent anti-communist activist who fled Cuba in 1993 and was granted asylum in the United States, appeared Tuesday on NewsNation’s Katie Pavlich Tonight.

And before the interview ended, Pavlich had one more question which Fernandez didn’t deny.

“For years we’ve heard rumors that Justin Trudeau, the former prime minister of Canada, could be your half-brother. What do you think about it?” Pavlich asked.

“The only thing I can say is that his mother used to visit the country very often,” she replied with a coy smile.

“Well, that may be a tell then,” Pavlich said. “I guess that’s a half answer.”

“Yes,” Fernandez, Trudeau’s rumored half-sister, replied coyly.

Pavlich asked if Fernandez planned to call Trudeau to get a final answer over whether they’re biological siblings.

“No, no,” Fernandez said. “If he wants, he’s welcome. But I won’t. I think he keeps that to himself, and you have to respect that.”

The exchange immediately went viral.

A longtime conspiracy theory, the rumor gained traction in 2016 after then-Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau issued a warm statement mourning the death of Castro. It has resurfaced periodically ever since, most recently when President Donald Trump mentioned it in his 2024 book “Save America.”

Neither the Canadian government nor the Cuban government has ever claimed any biological connection between Castro and Trudeau. Castro himself never acknowledged such a relationship.

Castro’s 11 known children were born to multiple women, several outside of marriage. Fernandez herself was born from an affair Castro had with Cuban socialite Natalia Revuelta Clews. It is widely believed that his true number of children far exceeds what is publicly known.

Trudeau resigned as Canada’s prime minister in January 2026 after years of declining poll numbers and an internal party revolt.
