President Joe Biden couldn’t tell the difference between two of his cabinet secretaries — key advisors for the 81-year-old that meet with him almost daily.
At a meeting with the White House’s reproductive rights task force, Biden was attempting to thank his advisors but confused two men that look nothing alike.
“I also like to thank the gender policy advisor… my gender policy adviser, Jen Klein,” Biden said.
“Where’s Jen sitting? There you are, Jen,” the elderly Biden said, pointing to her before getting confused.
“Thank you. And Secretary Becerra, sitting right next to her, for the leadership in this task force,” Biden said.
Biden mistook Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas for Health and Human Services Secretary Xavier Becerra.
Becerra wasn’t physically in attendance and had used Zoom to call in.
But what makes the gaffee one of Biden’s lowest moments is that it came just minutes after White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre defended his mental sharpness.
Fox News reporter Peter Doocy had asked Jean-Pierre about Biden’s declining mental capacity.
“I have to say, that’s a little confusing for me. Because if you look at what this president has done in the last three years, historical pieces of legislation, right?” she said. ”
“When it comes to bipartisan infrastructure deal, many presidents before – like” former President Donald Trump couldn’t get it done, she said.
“These are legislation that is going to have a difference for generations to come. Right. And so this is something that this President has done. That’s pretty sharp for this President to have been able to do that,” Jean-Pierre said.
Biden came on stage right after, confused.
Take a look —
Biden recognizes his "gender policy advisor," along with "Secretary Becerra, sitting right next to her."
