President Joe Biden and Rep. Deborah Ross, D-N.C., had a nice picture taken at a recent campaign stop, Biden just told the few gathered supporters in the Tarheel State.
The only problem: Ross wasn’t actually in attendance.
It took Biden a few moments to remember that Ross was in Washington, D.C., and that he’d taken a photo with someone else.
Critics called the confusion yet another concerning “senior moment” for the elderly Biden, 80, who is the oldest-ever sitting U.S. president.
“Where’s Deborah?” Biden said, looking around for Ross.
“I just had my picture taken with her. That’s probably why she left,” he tried to joke.
Biden appeared confused by that Ross wasn’t present, and continued to scan around the audience for her until the “senior moment” passed.
“Oh, she couldn’t be here, actually. That’s not true. I got her mixed up,” Biden said.
“And she has… You know, she fights very hard for the people of this district and she’s up in Washington right now.”
