Michael Cohen, the former lawyer for President Donald Trump, has made headlines around the world after a BuzzFeed article late Thursday said he lied to Congress about a Russian business deal at the direction of the White House.
But there’s one big problem: Cohen is a well-known liar that’s out to save his own skin.
And BuzzFeed is known to publish anything they think will damage Trump… even proven lies.
Remember, BuzzFeed is the same mainstream media organization that shared the widely discredited Steele dossier on Trump. That document, funded in part by former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton’s election campaign, included unproven hearsay and outright lies about Trump.
The dossier was shopped to media outlets across the country and political spectrum throughout the 2016 election, but every single one declined to publish it because it was unproven.
Except, of course, BuzzFeed. Now, exactly one year later, that same news organization is dominating headlines… but again, they’re using unverified reports from a known liar to grab headlines.
If there’s truth behind Cohen’s allegations, of course, it’s a very bad look for the Trump administration.
But if Trump and his team are worried, they’re not showing it.
The president’s lawyer, Rudy Giuliani, scoffed at the report, saying in a statement, “If you believe Cohen I can get you a good all cash deal on the Brooklyn Bridge.”
Cohen was recently sentenced to three years in prison after pleading guilty to tax crimes, bank fraud and campaign violations. He is scheduled to testify before the House Oversight and Reform Committee Feb. 7.
Will his testimony be filled with self-serving lies again?
