Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer is leading the media’s angry attacks on President Donald Trump over his comments Monday in Helsinki.
But there’s one photo circulating the internet that Schumer doesn’t want getting out.
The image shows him cozy and smiling with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in 2009 over coffee and donuts, just one year after the Russian strongman tried to meddle in the 2008 presidential election.
Russia has been tinkering in U.S. elections for years, which Schumer is aware of. Seems like Schumer’s rage is all political theater.
The liberal leader has spent the day in the middle of the media circus, calling for immediate hearings with Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and other top officials to learn more about Trump’s meeting on Monday with Putin.
Schumer says the American people deserve to know what Trump said to Putin during their private, two-hour sitdown in Helsinki that included just the two leaders and their interpreters.
Additional meetings later included senior aides to both men.
Schumer said Trump showed “abject weakness and sycophancy” in failing to condemn Russian interference in the 2016 election, and called it a matter of national security.
When he was smiling with Putin over donuts, was that when Schumer getting tough with Putin?
