Chuck Schumer suddenly fired, Dems turn

Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer has been fired as Democratic Party leader.

The Democratic Party is now controlled by young socialists like New York City mayoral candidate Zohran Mamdani and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, not Schumer.

President Donald Trump said Tuesday that Mamdani, a 34-year-old democratic socialist state lawmaker, “would be the leader of the party” if he becomes New York City mayor.

When asked if the Democratic Party was now more Mamdani’s party than Schumer’s or House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries’, Trump said that it’s up to Democratic voters in New York to decide.

And polls say: Yes.

“Maybe he’ll run for president in four years; you’ll have a communist president. That would be interesting,” Trump warned. “He’s a communist, and he’s gonna be, maybe the mayor of New York … I would say he would be the leader of the party,” Trump said.

Trump said that Schumer and his establishment Democrats are no longer leading the party.

“It’s not Schumer. Schumer’s shot, he’s shot. This poor guy. I feel sorry for him. I’ve known him for a long time, but he’s — I think he’s mentally gone. He’s been beat up by young radical lunatics. And I think that Chuck Schumer is — he’s gonzo. I really do. I think he’s probably not going to run. It shows that he’s losing in every poll. Now, this is hard. You know, he wants to meet with me. Sort of hard to be with the guy after I make a statement like that, but I’m just giving you the facts. I think Chuck is probably finished,” Trump said.

Senator Tim Sheehy (R-MT) made similar comments Wednesday on “The Alex Marlow Show” podcast, blaming Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown.

“It is about the survival of Chuck Schumer and his primary that he’s going to lose to AOC, and it’s about a party that has lost a message and has no messengers,” Sheehy said.

He also warned that Mamdani and the socialist wing of the Democratic Party were firmly in control.

Senator John Barrasso (R-WY), the Senate Majority Whip, said last week on the Senate floor that Schumer was now controlled by radicals in his party.

“The Minority Leader is now a puppet of the radical, extreme, dangerous, scary wing of his party,” Barrasso warned voters.

Barrasso said Schumer “huddled with far-left activist groups for months before the shutdown” and orchestrated the government shutdown together with them.

“They organized a war room. They’re calling the tune. Senator Schumer even gloated to Punchbowl News: ‘We thought about this long in advance.’ This is a premeditated, political game for Senator Schumer and the Democrats,” Barrasso said.

Barrasso quoted the head of far-left activist group Indivisible, who said seven months ago that “Senator Schumer should step aside as leader. Every Democrat in the Senate should call for him to do so.”

After Schumer shut down the government, the same activist said, “He hasn’t surrendered yet. I call that progress, and we’re cheering him on now.”

“So what changed? Well, Senator Schumer started toeing the line of the far-left group,” Barrasso said.

Mamdani is a New York State Assembly member and outspoken socialist who trounced former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic primary for New York City mayor. He has led consistently in the upcoming general election by double-digit margins, according to polls.

Mamdani turned 34 last weekend and would become the first Muslim mayor in a city that’s home to the largest Jewish community outside Israel if he wins on November 4.

When Mamdani and Cuomo faced off in the first mayoral debate of the general election on October 16, the generational battle within the Democratic Party was on full display.

Cuomo was long a member of Democratic royalty, leading New York as governor for nearly 11 years. His late father, Gov. Mario Cuomo, was a Democratic Party icon.

“This is no job for on-the-job training,” Cuomo said during the debate, warning Mamdani was a political novice with socialist ideas outside the mainstream. “He never has had a job. On his resume it said he interned for his mother. This is not a job for a first-timer.”

“What I don’t have in experience, I make up for in integrity,” Mamdani responded. “And what you don’t have in integrity, you could never make up for in experience.”

That barb pointed to Cuomo’s long track record in office, including a sexual misconduct scandal that led Cuomo to resign as governor in 2021.

The latest poll by AARP and Gotham Polling shows over half of Mamdani’s support comes from young New Yorkers under age 50. For Cuomo, 76% of his support is over age 50.

Schumer, Cuomo, and the Democratic establishment has been fired by young left-leaning voters.

They’ve taken off the mask, and have fully embraced socialism.
