Former Fox News host Tucker Carlson’s rivalry with his former employer is spiraling out of control — and Carlson is starting to talk secrets.
It was speculated that Carlson was ousted from the network’s airwaves as part of a secret, handshake deal between Fox News and Dominion Voting System.
Carlson confirmed that speculation in his upcoming tell-all biography.
Dominion demanded Carlson be fired from Fox News as part of their $787 million settlement over controversial 2020 election claims broadcast on the network.
Fox News caved to the voting company and threw out Carlson, the conservative activist said.
“They agreed to take me off the air, my show off the air, as a condition of the Dominion settlement,” Carlson told biographer Chadwick Moore.
“They had to settle this; [Fox News executive Rupert Murdoch] couldn’t testify,” he said. “I think that deal was made minutes before the trial started.:
“I mean, I know it was,” Carlson concluded.
Carlson was by far the number-one rated cable news host until his sudden firing in April; he said being removed from the air was a complete shock.
“I was first confused, and then shocked,” he said. “It was just, ‘We’re taking you off the air.’ No explanation why, and they’ve let me guess ever since.”
“That’s literally all I know,” Carlson said. “I asked if I violated my contract. They said, no, I’m not fired, I’m still under contract.”
Since then, Carlson has repeatedly sparred with the network — he reportedly wants to “burn it down” — and launched his own independent show on Twitter.
Dominion Voting Systems and Fox News have both denied the rumor numerous times in the past. In a recent statement, a Dominion attorney said he “wanted to make clear personally that Dominion made no requests or demands whatsoever regarding Mr Carlson’s employment with Fox or his appearance, or non-appearance, on Fox News.”
