Conservative news star Bill O’Reilly declared MSNBC’s spinoff from Comcast marks the “end of far-left networks” following President-elect Donald Trump’s decisive November victory, claiming the network has become too “toxic” to save.
In a series of media appearances, O’Reilly provided an insider’s view of the network’s troubles.
“They’ve smeared the NBC News brand so badly that NBC News and Comcast know it cannot recover,” O’Reilly said, noting MSNBC’s reported 40% audience decline since Election Day.
Speaking on NewsNation’s “Cuomo,” O’Reilly revealed behind-the-scenes maneuvering from inside the troubled network.
“They were ordered to go to Mar-a-Lago by Comcast, the parent company out of Philadelphia… because Comcast knew the next day they were going to announce that MSNBC is vapor. That is a huge media story.”
O’Reilly dismissed reports of a traditional spinoff, and said they’re actually ‘uncoupling’.
“There’s no spin-off. Why would you believe what’s being reported? You want the real story here… they’re uncoupling – their word, Comcast – MSNBC from NBC News. That means MSNBC has no resources at all.”
The former cable host argued NBC News faces a crisis of credibility after the American people soundly rejected Vice President Kamala Harris and Democrats in the 2024 election.
“NBC News’ numbers, Lester Holt and The TODAY Show, are catastrophe because half the country equates NBC News with MSNBC and they won’t watch. So NBC is desperately trying to save the mother ship of information and they have to throw MSNBC overboard,” he said.
“It’s hateful, not because it’s so far left. The whole NBC-Comcast hierarchy is far left, but it’s hateful. They hate Trump,” O’Reilly said. “They hate people who vote for Trump. Everybody knows that.”
He predicted similar changes across media landscapes, particularly targeting ABC’s “The View.”
“ABC News are gonna have to cut ties with The View,” O’Reilly said. “So it is over for these far-left networks. Done. Never coming back, Dracula’s stake in the heart.”
The claims come after MSNBC’s Morning Joe hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski attempted to repair relations with Trump, meeting him at Mar-a-Lago for the first time in seven years. The visit drew criticism from MSNBC viewers and host Katie Phang, who warned against efforts to “normalize” Trump.
