Last month, U.S. District Judge Loretta A. Preska ordered the release of more than 150 names associated with a 2015 case against Ghislaine Maxwell, a convicted co-conspirator in Jeffrey Epstein’s trafficking ring.
The people on the list were given until Jan. 1 to appeal the decision. Now, with that deadline passed, the names may become public as soon as Tuesday.
One name, “Doe 36,” is expected to be revealed as former President Bill Clinton, according to a shocking report from ABC News. Clinton’s name reportedly appears more than fifty times.
The list of names comes from Virginia Giuffre’s defamation suit, predating Maxwell’s arrest by about five years. In the judge’s telling, the list of names includes Epstein’s employees, the court’s witnesses, the sex abuse victims, and smaller players in the scandal.
Clinton was reportedly named in Guiffre’s lawsuit amid her lawyers’ unsuccessful attempts to subpoena him for a deposition.
ABC News, the first outlet to name Clinton as “Doe 36,” reported —
Former President Clinton, who ABC News has learned is identified as “Doe 36,” is mentioned in more than fifty of the redacted filings, according to court records. Several of those sealed or redacted entries are focused on an effort by Giuffre’s lawyers in mid-2016, first reported by ABC News, to subpoena the two-term Democratic president for deposition testimony about his relationship with Epstein.
Plus, a woman currently identified as “Jane Doe 162” has testified about visiting Epsitein’s New York mansion with Guiffre and Prince Andrew. Guiffre, then 17, says that she was ordered to have sex with the prince at this very gathering. Andrew has denied the allegations.
The soon-to-be-released documents may identify Jane Doe 162 by name.
It’s not Epstein’s client list, even though “#EpsteinClientList” was trending on Twitter.
Still, Guiffre has mocked some of the “nervous people” about to appear on the list.
Other documents have surfaced, too. For example, the Wall Street Journal obtained Epstein’s scheduling diaries last year.
Clinton traveled multiple times on Epstein’s private plane — nicknamed the “Lolita Express” — after leaving office, according to publicly released flight logs.
In 2019, Clinton spokesperson Angel Ureña said that Clinton “has never been to Little St. James Island, Epstein’s ranch in New Mexico, or his residence in Florida.”
“He’s not spoken to Epstein in well over a decade,” Ureña added.
Epstein was convicted in 2008 of procuring a child for prostitution in 2008. He died under mysterious circumstances while awaiting trial in 2019.
Maxwell is serving a 20-year prison sentence after she was convicted in December 2021 of helping Epstein recruit and sexually abuse underage girls.
