President Joe Biden has a bad habit of dropping expletive-laden rants at his aides, according to a report by Politico.
The president has reportedly shown a fondness for variations of “f—k” — and a recent exchange had him reportedly cursing out an aide.
During a conversation with an aide, Biden was reportedly venting about the media coverage of his age and mental acuity. “You think I don’t know how f—ing old I am?” the president reportedly snapped.
Politico reported the remark on Tuesday, but Biden likely made it sometime earlier this year.
In any case, it wasn’t an isolated incident.
All the way back in 2021, Politico reported on Biden’s tendency to sweat at his aides. In a newsletter last year, the outlet reported:
In meetings with aides, Biden’s vulgarities include but are not limited too: “F–k them,” “What the f–k are we doing?” “Why the f–k isn’t this happening?” “b——t,” “d—it,” or just simply: “f–k,” according to several current and former aides.
Biden visited Florida in October to survey the damage from Hurricane Ian. “No one f—-ks with a Biden,” the president told one mayor at the time.
Earlier this year, Biden also referred to Fox News White House correspondent Peter Doocy as a “stupid son of a b—-h” at a White House event in January.
It was unclear whether Biden was speaking into a hot mic or whether he intended for the room to hear this remark. In any case, Biden tends to self-monitor his cursing.
“When he cusses around women, it is always, and I mean always, followed by an immediate apology,” one insider told Politico.
“He’s from a different generation but if there’s people that are younger than him, especially women, he feels like, ‘Hey, how would I feel if I was cussing around my daughter or my granddaughter?’” said another former aide. “You don’t cuss in front of women and children.”
Vice President Kamala Harris doesn’t seem to mind. On NowThis News in 2019, Harris was asked about her favorite curse word.
“I can’t say it,” she said. “It starts with an M, and it ends with ‘-ah,’ not ‘-ER.'”
Biden tends to use PG-13 terms when cursing. For example, one aide described him as “way too prudish” to use the word “f—-k” in the literal sense.
Some aides were implied to have described Biden’s manner of swearing as self-aware or old-fashioned. After all, Biden’s use of the term “malarkey” has become an internet meme.
While serving as president, Donald Trump used to swear more openly, not only behind closed doors.
“The Democrats have to now decide whether they will continue defrauding the public with ridiculous bulls—-t, partisan investigations,” Trump said at a rally in 2019. At a rally this year, Trump apparently referred to “the next 300 f—-king years.”
