Does the White House would have a flag etiquette expert on staff? It seems President Joe Biden doesn’t care.
The White House played fast and loose with the American flag on Saturday, and Biden faced accusations of a violation of the flag code.
The flag code says, “The flag of the United States of America should be at the center and at the highest point of the group when a number of flags of States or localities or pennants of societies are grouped and displayed from staffs.”
On Saturday, the White House was flying an American flag from a staff on top of the building, as usual… but the White House was also displaying a Pride flag in the center of two USA flags at the White House entrance.
Pride first. America second.
According to the flag code, a president needs to issue a proclamation before making any code changes.
“Any rule or custom pertaining to the display of the flag of the United States of America, set forth herein, may be altered, modified, or repealed, or additional rules with respect thereto may be prescribed, by the Commander in Chief of the Armed Forces of the United States, whenever he deems it to be appropriate or desirable; and any such alteration or additional rule shall be set forth in a proclamation,” the code states.
Sen. Roger Marshall, R-Kan., tweeted, “This is a disgrace. Not only is it in breach of US Flag Code, but it’s a glaring example of this White Houses’ incompetence and insistence on putting their social agenda ahead of patriotism.”
Rep. Mike Johnson, R-La., added, “Pursuing his twisted agenda, Biden dishonors the American flag and breaks federal law.”
Liberal “fact-checkers” defended the president with semantic arguments about the phrase “group of flags.”
Forbes wrote, “A U.S. flag was flying atop the White House—suggesting that the display did in fact adhere to the U.S. flag code.
In any case, Biden’s own Twitter account tweeted a photo excluding the American flag on top of the building. Even the liberal media couldn’t hide it.
“In the original images that circulated on social media, the U.S. flag flying over the White House was cropped out—either by accident or design,” Forbes wrote. “In either case, it certainly changes the context.”
That day, Biden was welcoming hundreds to the White House for a Pride Month celebration aimed at showing LGBTQ+ his administration puts them first over the rest of America.
Take a look —
This is a disgrace.
