“On the Holmes Front,” with Frank Holmes
One day after he announced he would visit the southern border for the first time in his 51-year political career, President Joe Biden gave a speech on immigration this week… but he left out the most important detail.
In Thursday’s speech, Biden tried to pose as a tough border enforcer—but the facts he omitted, and some of the policies he proposed, contradicted him.
Out of one side of his mouth, Biden claimed he would keep out illegal aliens flooding the Mexican border—but out of the other side, he promised to open up every door he could and then legalize all the illegals who entered our open border during his presidency.
Tough talk aside, a White House fact sheet that came out the same time as his Thursday speech promised Biden would “expand and expedite legal pathways” for illegals to slip into the country, often mouthing statements left-wing lawyers taught them to qualify for asylum. Biden promised to triple the number of legal “refugees” who come into this country.
Biden even personally encouraged these illegals to fast-track their release into the U.S. interior by using an app on their cell phone.

Biden also opened up a “parole” process to admit 120,000 immigrants every month from Venezuela, Nicaragua, Haiti, and Cuba (30,000 from each country, monthly).
Biden said he’d send tens of millions more of U.S. taxpayer dollars to corrupt Latin American regimes, which haven’t stopped the flow of caravans and cartels so far.
And he claimed he’s “taking on the smuggler misinformation,” evidently when they say the border is wide open (which it is).
But here’s what Biden didn’t tell you: The crisis on America’s southern border has reached historical levels—worse even than anyone imagined, new data reveal.
Disturbing figures from the Biden administration show a record-breaking number of illegal aliens crossed America’s busted border with Mexico in December 2022.
Border Patrol agents arrested 226,050 illegal immigrants on the southwest border in December, according to data obtained by The Center Square, not including at least 87,631 “gotaways.”
That breaks the previous one-month record set… one month earlier, in November 2022. That hardly sounds “secure.”
To make matters worse, that number doesn’t even include all the border crossings: The data only include Border Patrol, not figures from the Office of Field Operations.
“We are in year three of this border crisis,” said Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas.
The El Paso sector has seen illegal immigration surge to 209,000 in the last four months, compared with 54,396 during the last year of President Donald Trump’s administration.
But under Joe Biden, the immigration crisis has spread nationwide, to every state in the country.
Law enforcement caught 1,400 illegal immigrants off the coast of Florida last weekend. Meanwhile, the number of illegals crossing the Canadian border through the Swanton Sector, which includes Vermont, has exploded. “In less than three months… Border Patrol agents have encountered more illegal border crossers than the entire previous fiscal year,” said Swanton Sector Chief Border Patrol Agent Robert Garcia… and that’s after he counted a 943 percent increase in illegal border crossings in fiscal year 2022!
All in all, a total of 5.5 million illegal immigrants entered the United States during Biden’s first two years in office.
“These record-breaking numbers are a direct consequence of open-borders policies implemented by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas and the person who appointed him, President Joe Biden,” said Dan Stein, president of the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).
Naturally, Biden said nothing about the crisis he created during his border speech. Maybe he doesn’t know. Biden seemed to lose focus during his speech Thursday, at one point bringing a beaming smile to Kamala Harris’ face when he called her “President Harris.”
But he’s clear on one thing: Joe Biden tried to blackmail the new Republican House majority, saying he won’t stop the millions of illegals crossing the border until they pass amnesty for millions of illegal aliens already living in the United States.
“Until and unless Congress delivers the… comprehensive immigration reform measures President Biden requested, the United States’ broken immigration system will indeed remain broken,” Biden’s White House stated.
He’s not the only one pressing the issue: It’s a party-wide assault.
During the Speaker of the House drama, congressional Democrats maneuvered to elect a pro-amnesty Republican to the chamber’s top post.
But the Republican majority in the House is more opposed to amnesty than at any time in recent history. Even Senator Marco Rubio, R-Fla., who led the “Gang of Eight” to strike an amnesty deal under President Barack Obama, says he’s opposed to any legalization of illegals right now—especially if he’s feeling a bad-faith shakedown by the Biden administration.
Good luck with that.
Biden’s policies have unleashed border chaos and demand an unattainable goal to stop it. That’s a recipe for disaster.
Meanwhile on Thursday, former President Donald Trump unveiled a different border policy. He promised to “take down the cartels, just as we took down ISIS and the ISIS caliphate” by launching a naval blockade of cartels, have the Special Forces inflict “maximum damage” on them, and treat the cartels the same way he dealt with such foreign terrorist organizations as al-Qaeda.
Trump had al-Qaeda on the run; Biden handed Afghanistan over to the Taliban. The same process is underway in America, one illegal crossing at a time.
