Some far-left Democrats have been demanding the abolishment of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) for four long years.
What started off as a rallying cry for the likes of Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and other latte liberals has quietly become a reality under President Joe Biden.
In all but name, Biden is abolishing the immigration system tasked with protecting the country, critics say.
Based on a Washington Post report he’s taking clever measures to unravel former President Donald Trump’s action on illegal immigration.
An unnamed source featured in WaPo claimed that instead of publicly tearing ICE apart, he’s demanding that illegal immigration enforcement agents simply stand down.
“It literally feels like we’ve gone from the ability to fully enforce our immigration laws to now being told to enforce nothing,” the official told the paper.
Don’t go after those known to be entering the country illegally and don’t prosecute those with criminal records, Biden ordered.
This directive is a swift and drastic difference of the Biden administration in comparison with the Trump regime.
“The pendulum swing is so extreme,” the source added.
Let’s not forget that Biden made this a high priority item, within the first few days halting construction on the border wall and also increasing protections for illegal immigrants.
That was only the beginning.
Since then, the Dept. of Homeland Security has confirmed it will overhaul its entire illegal immigration strategy. Illegal immigrants at correctional facilities, and illegal immigrants convicted of drunk driving or assault will be less likely to be detained by ICE.
“U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services recently rescinded two 2018 policy memos related to the issuance of Notices to Appear when processing requests for immigration benefits,” USCIS spokesman Matthew Bourke said Sunday. “The agency was directed to rescind the relevant policy in a [Department of Homeland Security] memo issued Jan. 20.”
Biden’s move — an overcorrection for the countless illegal immigrants deported under the Obama years — is getting plenty of notice from law enforcement around the country.
In speaking to Fox News, Sheriff Chuck Jenkins delivered a chilling warning.
“There will be no enforcement.”
And he argued that it’s putting immigrant communities in America at risk.
So it seems like instead of using their handcuffs, ICE is handcuffed itself.
