Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders’ chances for the 2020 Democratic presidential candidacy just took a major blow — and has campaign may be finished before it even started.
Sanders was hit hard with the news last week that his former campaign manager, Jeff Weaver, would not be returning.
Now, Sanders has to face scrutiny after ANOTHER former top aide has been accused of sexual harassment.
POLITICO reports that Robert Becker, a top adviser in 2016, has been accused of “forcibly kissing subordinate” specifically at a post-Democratic National Convention celebration. The unnamed staffer didn’t report it because the campaign was over. She thought the worst of it was over…
But Becker reportedly made a big mistake.
According to reports, he reached back out to that same woman — among other staffers — in an effort to galvanize the troops for a 2020 campaign run. That’s when the alleged victim decided enough was enough.
One of those people she told was Jeff Weaver, leaving skeptics in the media to think Weaver’s exit from the campaign may stem from the increasing claims of misconduct in the Sanders camp.
Of course, the bleeding doesn’t stop there.
On January 2nd, The New York Times reported multiple accusations of sexual misconduct by aides of his 2016 campaign, lower wages for women involved in the campaign, and overall mistreatment of assistants and strategists.
His failure to properly address these issues speak volumes about the character of a man that claims to be a “champion of the people” and a socialst. Because of it, his run may crash and burn before it even starts.
Sanders’ former Nevada strategist, Giulianna Di Lauro, detailed an incident involving a surrogate member who she claimed grabbed and touched her repeatedly throughout their days together.
When Di Lauro went to report the incident, according to her the outreach team simply laughed.
The women of the NYT interviews described a culture resembling a dead end. “There was no one who would or could help,” said former campaign director Samantha Davis.
One delegate member even claimed the atmosphere was “rotten.” Maybe it had to do with hasty accommodations for the women, who were subjected to sharing rooms with men they didn’t know.
So when Sanders was blasting President Donald Trump in 2016 along the campaign trail, he evidently missed out on some crucial things in his own camp. If Sanders couldn’t manage his camp, how was he supposed to manage a country?
What exactly was he doing at the time this alleged lewd culture was taking shape?
