Barron Trump shut down an entire floor of Trump Tower in Manhattan for a private date, according to a source who spoke to The New York Post’s Page Six.
The 19-year-old first son took the extraordinary security measure at his family’s iconic Fifth Avenue skyscraper. A source told the outlet the decision to close off an entire floor was strictly due to security reasons, not extravagance.
Barron is a sophomore at New York University but lives at the White House while attending classes at NYU’s Washington D.C. campus. He spent his freshman year on the prestigious university’s main campus in New York’s Greenwich Village before opting to attend the D.C. outpost this fall semester. The 6’7″ Trump scion has developed a reputation as a ladies’ man among his fellow students.
“He’s tall and awkward, but he was the thing, the guy. He had a lot of girls running after him,” a fellow student told Page Six.
A source told People magazine last year that Barron caused a stir when he first entered NYU’s Stern School of Business.
Barron is “studying business in some way. He’s a ladies’ man for sure. He’s really popular with the ladies. He’s tall and handsome. A lot of people seem to think he’s pretty attractive — yes, even liberal people like him,” the source told People.
Forbes reported that Barron’s net worth has jumped to a staggering $150 million thanks to cryptocurrency investments.
Being the son of the president comes with intense protective measures. When Barron travels or hosts guests, Secret Service presence increases significantly. Barron cannot give out his phone number to college friends for fear it would leak to the public.
Instead, he communicates with friends through a gaming console’s chat platform and Discord.
“If people get the number, they would give it out, and then a million people would be calling nonstop,” the source said. “You’d have to change the number constantly and it’d become a merry-go-round.”
First Lady Melania Trump said last year it was unlikely for Barron to have a normal college experience.
“I don’t think it’s possible for him to be a normal student. His experience at college, it’s very different than any other kid,” she told Fox & Friends.
Reports have circulated about a “mystery lady” in Barron’s life, though neither he nor his family has confirmed the rumors.
Melania Trump is understood to be the primary decision-maker in all matters related to Barron and kept him largely out of the public eye as a youth. When he officially entered adulthood, Barron joined his father’s presidential campaign to help run his social media efforts.
“While he was still a minor, she zealously protected him, and we knew very little about the details of his daily life,” a source said. “I think he’s allowed to make more decisions for himself now. He can invite anyone to dinner he wishes. He’s slowly becoming more public.”
