Barron Trump isn’t even through his first year of college.
But President Donald Trump’s son is already being tapped to fill some important shoes within the Republican Party.
Reports surfaced this week that the president of New York University’s college Republicans resigned after calling Barron Trump an ‘oddity’ on campus.

But now the powerful group wants Barron to help fill the vacancy.
This issue began when Kaya Walker, the president of the college Republican group at New York University, spoke to Vanity Fair for a lengthy profile of the first son’s social life on campus – or lack thereof.
Walker – an undergrad student pursuing a BA in International Relations and French at the university – told the magazine she had observed that Trump was more of the shut-in type.
‘He’s sort of like an oddity on campus. He goes to class, he goes home,’ Walker said.
Her statement has drawn condemnation from the College Republicans of America and led to Walker submitting her resignation on Sunday.
The group wrote on social media that while Vanity Fair ‘unfairly framed’ her, Walker’s words do ‘not align with the values and principles upheld by our organization.’
The NYU college Republicans further described what Walker said as ‘inappropriate’ and accepted her resignation.
President Will Donahue had a personal message to Barron at the end of their statement, asking him to join and help ‘shaping the future of our party.’
‘Barron Trump represents the future of the conservative movement and we would be honored to have him join College Republicans of America,’ he said.
‘Strong leadership is built on resilience, courage, and the humility to rise above petty hostility – qualities that Barron has already demonstrated.’
Walker, meanwhile, is a New England native who interned at the Bronx District Attorney’s Office and had plans to go to law school.
The group says they are overseeing what they hope will be a ‘smooth transition’ in leadership.
Barron’s college life has a hot topic throughout the past year. Last August, his father teased to the New York Post in August that his youngest son had decided to attend a “good” school in New York.
Last September, Donald Trump confirmed Barron’s college choice to Daily Mail and said his youngest son was “accepted to a lot of colleges.”
Barron has largely stayed out of the physical spotlight, even while helping his father’s presidential campaign win over voters through social media.
During the 2024 presidential election, Barron declined an opportunity to serve as an at-large delegate for Florida during the Republican National Convention, citing “prior commitments” in a statement made by his mother.
However, shortly before the RNC, Barron made his first appearance at a campaign rally to support his father.
Melania Trump told Fox & Friends that her son was crucial in securing Donald’s presidential election victory.
During the interview, she said “he was very vocal” behind the scenes of the campaign and “knew exactly who his father needs to contact and to talk to.”
