For years, rumors that former President Barack Obama had homosexual tendencies circulated in the dark corners of the internet, dismissed either as a joke or a far-Right conspiracy theory.
Take off the tinfoil hat, Pulitzer Prize winning historian David Garrow revealed last week. Garrow said he found evidence that Obama had fantastized about men in the past.
Garrow confirmed that Obama once told a former girlfriend in a love letter that he “repeatedly fantasizes about making love to men.”
The letter is in the possession of Emory University. The ex-girlfriend had the paragraph redacted when she gave the letter to Garrow for his 2017 biography Rising Star.
In an interview published on Aug. 2, Garrow revealed to Tablet magazine that he confirmed with the ex-girlfriend — and then had a friend track down the letter at Emory to double-check — that the redacted paragraph included Obama writing about dreams of homosexual intercourse.
“I think she wanted to have her role known. So when [she] showed me the letters from Barack, she redacted one paragraph in one of them and just said, ‘It’s about homosexuality.'” Garrow said about Obama’s former lover.
“And then sometime, right about when Rising Star came out, [Obama’s ex-girlfriend] indirectly sold the original, sold those letters, and they ended up at Emory,” he said.
“So Emory put out a press release saying, ‘We’ve gotten these rare letters by Barack Obama.’ And no mention of this paragraph that was too sensitive. None of the papers mentioned it. Emory didn’t mention it,” Garrow continued.
“So I sent one of my oldest friends, Harvey Klehr—Harvey was the guy going back to 1980 when I was trying to solve who fingered Stanley Levison, how was it known to the FBI that Stan had been [a communist]” as part of work for another book.
“So I emailed Harvey, said, ‘Go to the Emory archives.’ He’s spent his whole life at Emory, but they won’t let him take pictures,” Garrow said.
“So Harvey has to sit there with a pencil and copy out the graf where Barack writes to Alex [his ex-girlfriend] about how he repeatedly fantasizes about making love to men.”
