There’s a canyon forming inside American politics.
Not between Democrats and Republicans.
But Between Democrats and Democrats — and it could completely destroy the Democratic Party’s hopes of ever winning another presidential election.
The latest source of divide is stemming from the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) conference, a major lobbying group supporting pro-Israel policy. Every day, more Democratic presidential candidates say that they’re not going.
Of the most notable candidates not attending: Sens. Kamala Harris, D-Calif., Bernie Sanders, I-V.T, Elizabeth Warren, D-M.A. and former congressman Beto O’ Rourke.
“Sen. Sanders has no plans to attend the AIPAC conference. He’s concerned about the platform AIPAC is providing for leaders who have expressed bigotry and oppose a two-state solution,” Sanders’ policy director express in an official statement.
The stunt is meant to appease the growing antisemitism in the far-left of the Democratic Party — but experts say if Democrats alienate American Jewish voters, it will doom Democrats election chances for years to come.
A sudden shift in Jewish voting patterns could mean an overwhelming political turn.
Despite running a disastrous campaign, Hillary Clinton secured 71 percent of the Jewish vote in the 2016 general election. According to theJewish Virtual Library, California, New York, New Jersey, Oregon and Illinois — blue states — all have some of the highest populations of Jewish citizens. This is all without mentioning that large majorities of the Jewish populations are situated in metropolitan areas, historically blue enclaves.
If the Democrats continue to turn their’ backs on the voting demographics who come out to the polls in droves for them, there’s a groundbreaking swing on the horizon. Those voters, who were once guarantees for Democrats, won’t show up.
Or worse for liberals… they’ll vote Republican.
That would swing critical electoral college states from blue to purple… to deep, deep red.
President Donald Trump doubled down on his comments about the Democrats’ increasingly anti-Semitic platforms.
“The Democrats have very much proven to be anti-Israel, there’s no question about that,” Trump said as he departed the White House for Palm Beach, Florida.
“And it’s a disgrace, I mean, I don’t know what’s happened to them but they are totally anti-Israel. Frankly, I think they’re anti-Jewish.”
Never mind the fact that AIPAC was a historically bipartisan gathering for both red and blue politicians — a rare moment on the calendar year when both sides could agree to agree. The Democrats continue to look sour at every turn with this move.
But what’s really behind it?
Pundits are speculating that the liberal group MoveOn.org, which officially called for 2020 candidates to boycott the conference, is behind the snub.
It’s also pressure from the increasingly radical far-left.
The incoming freshman Democrats, along with their’ voters, have hijacked the party’s direction. Only when Reps. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., Rashida Tlaib, D-M.I., and Ilhan Omar, D-M.N. arrived did the party somehow become critical of Israel.
In turn, it’s influenced party elders and 2020 hopefuls into a craze to appeal to radical voters.
That somewhat worked in the 2018 primaries, but the 2020 presidency is going to feature all Americans, not just extreme progressive voters. If Trump is to be re-elected, the Democrats, pushing loads of nonsense policy, will only have themselves to blame.
And it could be the last competitive presidential election… ever.
