Although moral revivals have been associated with the Republican Party since the days of Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson, the Democratic Party has a new authority on ethics: Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.
The Bronx socialist and former bartender has turned in a new lowdown, dirty trick: Becoming the self-appointed Inquisitor of New York City after she issued a scathing rebuke calling on the city’s embattled mayor, Eric Adams, to resign.
But critics say there’s more to AOC’s new Bible-thumping, anti-corruption theatrics than meets the eye.
Eric Adams has been indicted in a federal investigation of his alleged criminal corruption over foreign bribes.
“I always knew that if I stood my ground for New Yorkers that I would be a target — and a target I became,” said Adams, who has become an unlikely critic of the Biden-Harris administration’s open border policies. He proclaimed his innocence and said he will fight the charges.
But that’s not good enough for AOC.
“I do not see how Mayor Adams can continue governing New York City,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote on social media. “The flood of resignations and vacancies are threatening gov function. Nonstop investigations will make it impossible to recruit and retain a qualified administration. For the good of the city, he should resign.”

Why exactly does AOC think she has the right to weigh in on the future of the mayor’s office?
Adams and Ocasio-Cortez have had a contemptuous relationship for a long time. The friction between the former cop and the “Defund the Police” cheerleader boiled over last November, after AOC attacked the mayor for trying to bring the city’s budget under control.
The mayor’s allies held a press conference telling the congresswoman to go to Washington and do her job to relieve the “compression” the city has faced since Republican governors have forced the Big Apple to live up to its status as a sanctuary city for illegal aliens.
That doesn’t seem likely, since local reporters say AOC’s deep-blue district is turning into one huge red light district, its streets overrun with prostitutes.

Compare today's NYC to the one when @RudyGiuliani
was Mayor on any level, in any borough. Just like Trump, they tried to destroy him bc of how successful he was.AOC's 'red light' district overrun with prostitutes as locals call out MIA 'Squad' memberhttps://t.co/2zcGmGOC4I

But, as in all political matters, there could be more than meets the eye. Could it be that AOC actually wants to run for office herself?
AOC has had a long love affair with the mayor’s mansion—but if you read The Horn News, you’d already know that.
“The Bronx congresswoman thought about running for mayor of New York City in the past,” reported “On the Holmes Front” all the way back in 2020. “AOC would use Gracie Mansion as a stepping stone to the Senate, and then the White House…that is, if there’s a New York City left.”
It could be AOC sees this as her chance…but then again, maybe she isn’t thinking of her electoral future.
Some forces on the ground think that AOC isn’t trying to clear the field for herself; she’s running interference for The Squad.
“Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is calling for (New York City Mayor) Eric Adams to resign? Why, because it’s the ‘right thing to do’?” asked one poster on Elon Musk’s social media platform, X.
“No, because it means that NYC Councilman, and fellow socialist, Jumaane Williams becomes Mayor to ruin the city even further.”

Whatever her motive, it looks like she’s going to have competition: Former New York Governor Andrew Cuomo has made it known he wants to run for the position, as well.
Cuomo went down in disgrace after a series of sexual harassment allegations, but he remains an incredibly poplar figure in the Democratic Party.
“Even before news broke of New York City Mayor Eric Adams’ indictment, former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo was already signaling to allies that he was preparing to run for mayor, according to two people familiar with the matter,” reported the left-wing “news” website Axios.
That means AOC or Williams would have to fight him in the primaries.
“It’s pretty clear that Cuomo knows how this game is played and is calling in chits he built up to get back into power,” wrote David Strom at HotAir.com. “Democrats are usually fine with people being degenerates, and Cuomo is much less of one than the parade of people who enjoyed going to Diddy’s parties, which is a whole lot of them.”
While Strom says it’s not clear which faction of the New York City Democratic machine the national party wants to win, “you can be sure that a scion of the Cuomo family has a lot of sway with powerful people and more than a little dirt on many of them. He’s given many favors over the years, and in New York City favors are a currency that can purchase almost anything.”
Did Cuomo agree to step down in exchange for the Biden administration clearing Eric Adams out of the mayor’s office?
Is AOC interfering with the national plan?
Or are they just self-seeking politicians, doing what self-seeking politicians always do?
The Adams/AOC/Cuomo dust-up sums up the Democratic Party perfectly: a crook (allegedly), a radical, and a well-connected creep fighting over who gets to rule over you.
