Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez erupts on Donald Trump

They say there’s no love loss, especially in the world of D.C. politics.

And that’s especially true with liberal New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who went berserk on President-elect Donald Trump after the man attempted to compliment her for her work.

And in typical AOC fashion, she took to social media to air her grievances.

After an unsuccessful bid for a leadership position on a top House committee, Trump took to Truth Social to offer some words of encouragement for AOC.

“Really too bad that AOC lost the Battle for the Leadership Seat in the Democrat Party,” Trump wrote Wednesday on Truth Social.

“She should keep trying. Someday, she will be successful!”

Sure, there is probably a bit of sarcasm in that post. But nevertheless, it was complimentary.

AOC fired back on her own social media. With her own dagger at Trump?

“Damn you know it’s bad when even Trump is feeling bad for me,” Ocasio-Cortez said, adding a laughing emoji.

The viral, online exchange came just one day after AOC was defeated in her bid to serve as the top Democrat on the House Oversight Committee.

The leadership role went to Democratic Rep. Gerry Connolly of Virginia, who received 131 votes to Ocasio-Cortez’s 84.

“I thank my colleagues for their support and the confidence they’ve placed in me to lead House Democrats on the Oversight Committee,” Connolly said in a statement after being elected by the House Democratic Caucus.

Ocasio-Cortez, who has served on the oversight committee since 2023, wrote on the social media platform Bluesky that she “tried her best” with her bid.

“Tried my best. Sorry I couldn’t pull it through everyone — we live to fight another day,” she wrote.

But despite the defeat, many in the Democratic Party are optimistic that AOC will one day get a leadership role within the party.

House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-N.Y.), was asked this week if he thinks AOC will make it into leadership in the near term, telling Axios: “Yes.”

AOC recently said that she is starting to warm to the idea paying her dues to the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, meaning she will have to wait her turn.

Asked about her future plans, Ocasio-Cortez told Axios: “I don’t have any comment on that.”
