SCARBOROUGH, Maine (AP) — A Maine man who had hired a plane to fly banners protesting the NFL’s four-game suspension of New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady again took to the air to gloat over a judge’s reversal of that suspension.
The Portland Press Herald reports (http://bit.ly/1ipTaRR ) that Richard Pate’s latest message — flown over Scarborough area beaches on Saturday — taunts NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell with the message: “Roger G. Feelin a Little Deflated?”
Pate, of Biddeford, Maine, began his airborne banner campaign in August. He paid a pilot to fly over Goodell’s vacation home in the exclusive Prouts Neck neighborhood of Scarborough towing a banner urging Goodell to “Jet home to N.Y.” He commissioned another banner in early August wishing Brady a happy birthday “from Maine and Roger G.”
It’s not clear if Goodell was at his Prouts Neck home when the banners flew over.
Pate had vowed to fly another banner on Sunday and did, punctuating his aerial campaign with “Finally Lets Play Football – Go Pats.”
