Legendary actor Denzel Washington is calling it quits.
But thankfully, fans will still get to see Washington in a few more projects before he officially retires from acting.
Washington recently told Australian version of the TODAY show during an interview that he is retiring after his next few projects.
The Academy Award-winning actor said that he has a few more roles left before he withdraws from the acting world, including his most recent role in the upcoming movie Gladiator II, which releases in theaters this month.
“For me, it’s about the filmmaker, especially at this point in my career,” he said. “I’m only interested in working with the best. I don’t know how many more films I’m gonna make — probably not that many. I want to do things I haven’t done.”
Before his retirement, Washington is gearing up to play Shakespeare’s Othello on Broadway for the second time, a role he first landed when he was 22.
Washington will play Othello for a third time in a film adaptation, play the characters Hannibal and King Lear in separate projects and have a role in the third Black Panther movie.
A third Black Panther movie has not yet been confirmed, according to NPR.
“After that, I’m gonna retire,” he said.
Washington has starred in a number of famous movies, including “Glory”, “The Pelican Brief”, “Training Day”, “Crimson Tide”, “Remember the Titans”, and also played alongside Tom Hanks in “Philadelphia.”
