Former President Donald Trump has made a decision on a 2024 presidential campaign.
He sat down with Fox News primetime star Sean Hannity for a town hall in Edinburg, Texas during his trip to the U.S. southern border.
“You’re not going to answer, but I have to ask,” Hannity said during the event. “Where are you in the process, or, let me ask you this, without giving the answer … have you made up your mind?”
Trump simply responded with a straight face, “Yes.”
The crowd of Texan supporters erupted.
“I think you got it right,” Hannity said back with laughter.
So while Trump didn’t explicitly reveal that he’s planning to run, it was as obvious an announcement as supporters could expect in the next few years.
His live announcement comes on the heels of a trip to the U.S.-Mexico border alongside Republican Texas Gov. Greg Abbott.
Abbott, who joined Trump during the town hall event, praised the successful policies of the former administration during the town hall event.
“He [Trump] cared about Texas,” Abbott said, “he stepped up to Texas, he built a wall in Texas.”
And he attacked President Joe Biden’s administration for failing to enforce border policies that undercut Texas rule of law.
“The first error that the Biden administration is making, is they have abandoned the rule of law. They are not enforcing the immigration laws that have been passed by Congress, and hence we have this complete open border policy.”
“We had the tightest security,” Trump said of his own administration.
“But you know what else we were stopping? Massive amounts of drugs, human traffickers, bad, bad people, criminals; they’re emptying their jails into our country. You know, other countries are emptying their jails into our country.”
