Critics say Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., will criticize law enforcement every chance she can get.
But her latest alleged move exposed a different side of the far-left congresswoman…
Waters is being accused of abusing her congressional privileges to secure extra Air Marshals on her flights.
She was among many congress members named in developing allegations that accuses her and other select lawmakers of requesting additional air marshals on flights to and from their respective districts — and in some cases, vacations.
Executive director of the Air Marshal National Council, Sonya Hightower LoBasco, claims that Air Marshals covering 30,000 flights have been yanked from public flights where everyday citizens travel.
In other words, vulnerable American citizens were in many cases left without protection on more high-risk flights.
And instead, the Air Marshals are allegedly being used to accommodate lawmakers like Rep. Waters.
She was named in a particular trip to Minneapolis to view the trial of now-convicted police officer Derek Chauvin on April. 17, when she allegedly beefed up her security with extra Air Marshals.
“Air marshals for Miss Waters trip were assigned high risk missions, they were removed from those missions and assigned to Miss Waters mission on top of her already armed security detail from the Capitol Police,” LoBasco said.
“That was not an official business trip.”
“We still don’t have any justification as to why government resources were utilized to fly Miss Waters out to Minnesota.”
The Fox News report that covered the allegations says that Air Marshals were furious with the decision.
The official complaint from the Air Marshal National Council reads:
Congresswoman Maxine Waters utilized numerous government resources inappropriately. Federal Air Marshals were removed from a “High Risk” flight to cover Ms. Waters flight to Minnesota. The High Risk flight took off with no armed law enforcement on board leaving a gap in National Security.
U.S. Capitol Police and the Secret Service have denied that additional Air Marshals were brought onto the flight.
And Waters denies any wrongdoing.
In fact, she has since claimed that she’ll sue Fox News for the report. She’s also demanding a full retraction.
A public statement of hers read:
In a recent article by Fox News, reporters William La Jeunesse and Lee Ross cited sources that falsely claimed I was accompanied by two armed Capitol Police and two U.S. Secret Service agents on an April 17 flight, that I requested a total of four U.S. Air Marshals, and used government resources for my travels.
“Variations of this article and false claim were then published by the New York Post and the Daily Mail. Each and every one of these claims is an absolute lie. Let it be made clear that I have never requested or utilized any Capitol Police, Secret Service, or U.S. Air Marshal presence on that flight or any of my flights.”
