Barr headed for break with Trump?

It’s no secret that legacy media outlets are eager to see the demise of President Donald Trump’s administration as he fights to overturn the election results.

So it was no surprise either when the New York Times released a report alleging that Trump-appointed Attorney General William Barr had plans to resign.

According to their three sources contributing to the report, it was said by one confidant that Barr could be leaving before Joe Biden’s scheduled inauguration. Another alleged that Barr felt he accomplished what he set out to do.

The NYT report also mentions that Barr allegedly made his decision more than a week ago, and that the decision had not been swayed in any way by Trump.

The initial report quickly spread to other media outlets including CNN and The Washington Post.

But one journalist is saying hold the phone.

CBS News’ Catherine Herridge reported late Monday morning that a DOJ official told the network that Barr is intent on staying put.

As long as Trump needs, the official purportedly said.

NEW: A DOJ official tells @CBSNews that Attorney General Bill Barr intends to stay as long as President Trump needs him. Sunday NYTimes reported, “Barr Is Said to Be Weighing Whether to Leave Before Trump’s Term Ends”

The conflicting reports come after Barr and President Trump have publicly come to two separate conclusions about widespread voter fraud in the U.S. Barr went on record last week saying that the DOJ had not found any evidence of mass voter fraud enough to overturn the election results.

“To date, we have not seen fraud on a scale that could have affected a different outcome in the election,” Barr told The Associated Press, though the Department has said it will welcome and pursue any and all evidence of substantiated voter fraud.

These aren’t the first rumors swirling about a potential Barr-Trump breakup. In the past there had even been reported rumors of Trump firing Barr due to their difference of opinion concerning the election.

But as for him abandoning ship before the Trump term ends?

It doesn’t seem he’s going anywhere just yet.
