Ted Cruz shocks with Supreme Court announcement

Sen. Ted Cruz, R-T.X., surprised a lot of outsiders when he shared a surprising Supreme Court secret.

According to Cruz, Chief Justice John Roberts “despises Donald Trump” and is using his position in the highest court to punish the current White House.

And sadly, Cruz said, this is a pattern for conservative judges on the U.S. Supreme Court.

“John Roberts has become the new Sandra Day O’Connor,” Cruz said during a recent interview, and was a “disappointment to conservatives.”

“It’s a disappointing thing … I’ve known John for 25 years,” the Texas senator said. “He was a law clerk to Chief Justice Rehnquist, as was I. When he was a practicing lawyer, he was widely considered one of the finest Supreme Court advocate in the country.”

Roberts was nominated to the Supreme Court by former President George W. Bush and was appointed by a 78-22 vote in the Senate. Cruz believes Roberts turn from conservative rulings to more centrist idealism is because of his dislike of Trump

“I think it is personal,” Cruz told “The Water Cooler” show. “I think it is difficult to come up with two human beings more antithetical than John Roberts and Donald Trump, in every respect.”

“Roberts, at his confirmation hearing, famously gave the example that a judge should be like an umpire and simple call ‘balls’ and ‘strikes’,” Cruz said.

“And, unfortunately, what Roberts has done in the last couple of years is to set aside his role as an umpire and he’s stood up and put on a team’s uniform and he’s grabbed a bat and he’s swinging away.”

“It’s sad to see, but it’s a pattern that a whole lot of Republican nominees in the past have followed as well,” Cruz said.
