Liberal NYC mayor blasted in boneheaded school reopen plan

New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio may be the most incompetent mayor in America.

His response to the coronavirus pandemic was so blundering that he was actually sidelined by New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

And de Blasio has even pushed major, ill-advised cuts to the New York City Police Department, even as the city is in the middle of a crime wave.

But as far as ineptitude goes, de Blasio’s new school reopening plan may take the cake.

De Blasio is only allowing New York City students to return to public schools part-time in the fall, from 1-3 days per week.

So what will happen to those students on the days when they’re not in school?

Well, de Blasio’s office is rolling out a plan for childcare to be provided — for large groups of children — at libraries and other local facilities.

And it didn’t take long for people to start asking what the difference was between congregating in a library study room and congregating in a classroom.

I wonder if there any public schools that could be used to provide child care for NYC kids. Maybe they could even teach them a few things while they’re there. https://t.co/pp3PvZQ8Zs

On a daily basis, New York City will have to accommodate around 100,000 children in childcare settings. The idea is illogical — that de Blasio’s proposed childcare plan will offer better social distancing and safety measures than sending the kids to school.

“We’ve got a little under two months until school begins,” de Blasio said. “We’ve got a lot to do, and nothing like this has ever been attempted on this timeframe.”

There’s a reason “nothing like this has ever been attempted,” Mayor de Blasio.

It doesn’t make any sense.
