Newt Gingrich: Trump loses 2020 if….

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich is sounding off on the November 2020 election — and the former House Speaker has a bold prediction.

There’s only one way President Donald Trump can lose.

It all boils down to the coronavirus.

A 2nd wave of nationwide lockdowns will determine everything, Gingrich said.

“If Trump is right and we can reopen safely with reasonable precautions, he’ll probably get re-elected,” the conservative commentator said.

“If Trump is wrong, and as a result states have to shut down again and the economy goes back in the tank, then he probably won’t get re-elected, no matter what the consequence is, because, at that point, people will say, ‘Well, that didn’t work.’ There’s a lot riding on getting the next couple of months to work.”

The longtime Republican broke from many conservatives criticisms about Joe Biden and his campaigning from the basement. Critics have accused Democrats of hiding the former Vice President in the basement to avoid media gaffes and hiccups while Trump manages the civil unrest.

Instead of showing weakness, Gingrich says the strategy could pay off.

“ … it’s conceivable that Biden, by hiding, looks passive, and looks non-threatening and that may be reassuring to people.”

Gingrich’s prediction is coming on the heels of resurgent coronavirus cases across the nation. The flareups come at the heels of massive protests and unrest, as well as economic reopenings.

Florida, Texas, and Arizona have all reportedly seen setbacks in reopening, as governors have reimposed lockdown laws to curb the spike. And though many health experts had discussed the possibility of a “second wave,” researchers are now saying the U.S. is still suffering the first wave of cases.

However, former White House coronavirus task force leader Dr. Anthony Fauci recently said that nothing is set in stone.

In other words, there’s no guarantee a second wave will arrive.

It’s “not inevitable,” he said in his own words.

And if Gingrich is right, that’s good news for Trump.
