Longtime television star Rob Lowe stunned the political world when he revealed a close friend that no one saw coming.
Lowe — star of Fox hit show “9-1-1: Lone Star” — appeared on late night host Conan O’ Brien’s podcast when he shared his friendship with one of the most iconic conservative Supreme Court judges in American history.

“Are you guys really close?” O’Brien asked, stunned. “Wait, you know him?”
“I do know him,” Lowe said. “I got inducted into the Horatio Alger Society a couple years ago. … It’s a very exclusive, very amazing society that provides scholarships for kids who come from terrible, terrible backgrounds.”
“That’s how we met,” he explained. “They put the medal on me in the halls of the Supreme Court.”
“Wow,” O’Brien said, clearly shocked. “OK.”
Lowe confirmed the kinship between the two, telling O’Brien that the historic judge is on the guestlist for an upcoming podcast that’s currently in development.
According to Lowe, he wanted to bring on some voices that people are “surprised I’m friends with.”
But there’s more to the budding friendship than just a chance meeting.
Thomas is even giving career advice to both Lowe and his son, Matthew Lowe, who attended in law school.
Lowe said of Thomas, ” … he’s like, ‘If you ever need anything, call my number. This is my cell phone.'”
Lowe went on to describe his personal disbelief when it sunk in: he had the personal number of one of America’s storied lawmakers.
“So I call this cell phone and he answers it.”
“And you’re like, ‘Geeze. Shouldn’t there be, like, a vetting process?’ And 45 minutes he’s giving me advice on what my son should do vis-a-vis law school and clerking.”
