Former President Barack Obama is jumping into the 2020 presidential election to help his former vice president gain some fundraising ground on President Donald Trump.

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden’s “former boss,” Barack Obama, is trying to help him to fill his campaign coffers and unify the fractured Democratic Party ahead of the November election.

The former president and Biden will appear together next Tuesday for a “virtual grassroots fundraiser,” the former vice president announced on Twitter. It will be the first time the two have appeared together since Obama endorsed Biden in April.

Biden’s tweet linked to a campaign fundraising page and to a form for those who want to ask a question of the two Democrats.

The announcement Monday came hours after Biden said that his campaign and associated Democratic groups had raised $81 million in May — his strongest-ever fundraising haul.

President Donald Trump’s campaign has yet to release its fundraising total for the month.

However, the Trump campaign hasn’t been idle.

The Republican National Committee announced its largest online fundraising day ever on Sunday in a virtual campaign centered around Trump’s birthday.

The RNC and Trump campaign announced they had raised a staggering $14 million in donations.

Additionally, Trump campaign manager Brad Parscale announced Monday that over 1,000,000 tickets had been requested for an upcoming campaign rally in Tulsa, Oklahoma — for a venue that only seats 19,200.

The president has consistently out-fundraised his Democratic opponent. Trump’s campaign war chest “dwarfs” that of Biden. The president has constructed a fundraising behemoth over the last three years, and have a reported $255 million in cash.

By comparison, Biden’s campaign has approximately $100 million available.
