House Speaker Nancy Pelosi won’t lay off the gourmet ice cream… but she’s more than willing to layoff workers.
That’s the devastating attack President Donald Trump’s Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany shared with Fox News on Monday.
“The Paycheck Protection Program (PPP), which was just replenished, that funding starts again today so small business owners across the country would get a chance to get that money to pay their workers,” McEnany told Fox News’ “America’s Newsroom.
“It should’ve been here a week ago but, unfortunately, Nancy Pelosi delayed this,” she said. “She was out on late-night television, she was out eating ice cream as literally people were being potentially being laid off or worrying about their paychecks.
“Nancy Pelosi, she won’t lay off the ice cream… but she’s just fine with laying off workers,” McEnany said. “That’s a shame.”
She said Pelosi and her House Democrats are to blame for delaying the PPP relief — and only after significant delays was Trump able to finally secure the help American small businesses desperately need.
“It’s because of this president, because of PPP, that people are getting paid — and it is important to juxtapose that against the delays of the Democrats. To put some fire under them to get back to work,” McEnany said.
McEnany’s ice cream remark was a reference to Pelosi’s late-night show stunt two weeks ago.
The House speaker showed off her massive gourmet ice cream selection she keeps inside her $24,000 refrigerator to “help her cope” with coronavirus — while regular Americans struggle to pay their bills.
