An FBI raid in late January at the home of a former CEO of a now-bankrupt hospital chain has been linked to James Biden, brother of former Vice President Joe Biden.
In documents filed this month in a case regarding Florida-based Americore Holdings — a business that buys and manages rural hospitals — a federal overseer sought the appointment of a trustee specifically to run the businesses’ bankruptcy claim.
According to the filing, Americore Holding’s former CEO Grant White had “grossly mismanaged” the company and “has not operated hospitals in a manner that is consistent with public safety.”
White’s company “improperly siphoned money from the Debtors for his personal benefit,” the filing reads.
“The firm declared bankruptcy in December. On Jan. 29, the court documents say, the FBI raided White’s home at a location unspecified and, the next day, one of its hospitals, Ellwood City Medical Center in Pennsylvania. A week later a Kentucky court granted a motion to remove White as CEO,” RealClearInvestigations reported Monday.
White is connected to James Biden through Americore’s other business deals.
The two were named in a lawsuit accusing them of fraud, along with hedge fund manager Michael Lewitt. The lawsuit was filed this summer in Tennessee by businessman Michael Frey.
That lawsuit “alleges that when [Biden-connected business] Diverse Medical Management and Americore were in talks to merge, Jim Biden promised to exploit his brother’s political influence as vice president to attract international investors and make the venture successful,” according to a report by ZeroHedge.
“Lewitt is alleged to have alluded to the Vice President’s clout in a text message to Frey to calm the latter’s worry about legal liability to his firm over an acquisition: ‘Jim [Biden] told me. Don’t worry every time someone threatens to sue you you’re with us now nobody is gonna touch you.'”
According to the lawsuit, it was Frey’s understanding that Diverse Medical Management was “protected” by Joe Biden’s political connections.
Since August, a rift had reportedly appeared between Americore Holdings and the Diverse Medical Management team, including James Biden.
The FBI raid on former Americore CEO White isn’t the only questionable financial issue linked to the Biden family.
“In addition to his ties to Americore Holdings, James Biden has been accused of using the family name to acquire a $500,000 loan against his home from a former Joe Biden donor to pay for a separate vacation home,” The Washington Examiner reported. “In 2012, a company tied to James Biden was also awarded a $1.5 billion grant from the Obama administration, a move that was criticized prior to the team’s reelection campaign.”
A spokesman for the Biden family dismissed the allegations of fraud and said they would fight the accusations.
“It is nothing more than a cynical attempt to manipulate the press by taking advantage of Jim Biden’s public profile as the brother of a presidential candidate,” the spokesman said in August after the lawsuit was made public.
