A former award-winning NBC News star could be headed straight for the slammer.
According to a report by The New York Post, Bruce Hensel, a longtime news corospondent for the network, was arrested for asking a 9-year-old child to share sexual photos.
The Emmy-winning doctor asked the friend of a daughter for the suggestive pictures on an online social media messaging app.
And now he faces a felony count of “contact with a minor for sexual purposes.”
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) searched his home on Oct.16. after officials learned of the request for lewd photos between he and the 9-year-old in question.
Investigators of the LAPD confirm that messages, including photographs, were sent between the two.
The Los Angeles Times reports that the Los Angeles Regional Internet Crimes Against Children raided Hensel’s home, and he was later arrested Wednesday on Santa Monica Boulevard in connection with the investigation.
Hensel was then taken to the LAPD’s Metropolitan Detention Center, where his bail was set to $5,000.
He faces up to 18 months in prison, according to The LA Times.
Hensel was a veteran of NBC, and he joined the network in 1987. He also had a television stint on the 1980s soap opera “Capitol.”
