Last week, a leak to the mainstream media set off a fury of speculation against President Donald Trump and demands for impeachment.
But experts say it could be a clever political move by Trump… and destroy former Vice President Joe Biden’s 2020 hopes.
The president said he raised the issue of Biden’s son with the newly election Ukranian leader, asking for information on corruption rumors. Democrats have pressed for investigations into whether Trump improperly used his office to try to dig up damaging information about a political rival.
The Daily Wire said the whistleblower’s complaint was a political dud.
The call cited by the whistleblower involved the president-elect of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky. He and Trump spoke over the phone July 25.
Even CNN admitted that the whistleblower didn’t actually hear the call.
The whistleblower didn’t have direct knowledge of the communications, an official briefed on the matter told CNN. Instead, the whistleblower’s concerns came in part from learning information that was not obtained during the course of their work, and those details have played a role in the administration’s determination that the complaint didn’t fit the reporting requirements under the intelligence whistleblower law, the official said.
In speaking with reporters Sunday, Trump said that during that call he spoke with Zelensky about the Bidens.
Lost in all the liberal media’s frenzy is the fact that Biden may have tried to strong-arm the former Ukrainian president Petro Poroshenko into firing a Ukrainian prosector, who at the time was investigating Hunter Biden’s business dealings.
“We had a great conversation,” he told reporters. ” The conversation I had was largely congratulatory, was largely corruption — all of the corruption taking place, was largely the fact that we don’t want our people like Vice President Biden and his son (adding to the corruption).”
Biden allegedly threatened to withhold millions of dollars in loans toward Ukraine if the prosecutor wasn’t fired.
And heading into a 2020 face-off, Trump just reminded the American people all about it.
