Former Sen. Harry Reid appeared from the shadows with an announcement — and he’s saying the same thing almost all real Americans are saying.
The Democrats’ proposals are hot garbage.
Reid’s fellow liberals don’t quite look the same as they once did. And the ideas sound nothing like he was used to in his tenure.
So he broke silence to tell Democrats to cut the malarkey — simply put, the ideas and proposals coming from the left are terrible and he’s begging liberals to flush them down the toilet.
In an interview with Vice News, Reid told reporters that Medicare for All and the elimination of illegal border crossing laws would both be disastrous.
“Of course it would be,” Reid said when asked if the proposals would be problematic. “How are you going to get it passed?”
Under the Medicare for All plan, backed by proponents such as Sens. Bernie Sanders, I-V.T. and Kamala Harris, D-Calif., private insurance would be taken from all who have it.
Although Reid himself doesn’t have any suggestions that are much better — his bright idea being to continue working on Obamacare (ugh) — he knows that pushing policies farther left is only going to destabilize the party.
What he said proves that Democrats are only confusing the voters that they desperately need to beat President Donald Trump.
“I think that we should focus on improving Obamacare. We can do that — without bringing something that would be much harder to sell,” he said.
As for decriminalizing border crossings, Reid declared that issue completely useless. Notably, former Housing and Urban Development Secretary and 2020 candidate Julian Castro is one of the biggest proponents of opening the border and turning the illegal immigrant violation of border crossing into a civil offense.
At this rate the Democrats may just try to turn every law into a civil offense…
And Reid is absolutely turned off by how far gone the Democrats are.
“It should be way, way down at the bottom of the list,” he said when asked about decriminalizing border crossings. “People want a fair immigration system. They don’t want an open-door invitation for everybody to come at once.”
So far, just 2020 hopeful Tim Ryan, a long shot choir boy from Ohio has agreed with Reid about the dangers of the Democrats’ extreme-left curve.
As for the rest of the liberals?
There’s likely no chance they’ll listen to Reid.
Not only are the ideas from the radical left down at the bottom of the list of American priorities — if they keep it up the candidates’ votes are going to bottom out.
