Rumors say Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Tex., is headed for a big, big change — but are they true?
Is Cruz becoming a moderate?
A brief look at his political history suggests that these past few months he’s been creeping further and further to the left side of politics.
Could there be a chance that Cruz works his way so far left that he even becomes a Democrat? Insiders have begun openly speculating around Washington, D.C. in recent weeks.
Indeed, earlier this year Cruz sided with the crass Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., not once… but TWICE.
The two paired over Twitter on two issues: over-the-counter birth control and banning former congresspeople from becoming lobbyists.

“I’ve always been willing to work with anybody,” Cruz told Fox News in a phone interview. “Republican, Democratic, Independent, Libertarian. Heck, I’ve joked I’d work with Martians if we’re advancing good and positive policies.”
An argument could be made that Cruz has started moderating his political views after his narrow midterm Senatorial win over 2020 Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’ Rourke.
Cruz knows that the state of Texas is changing, seeing as how O’Rourke, a Democrat, earned so many votes. So experts say Cruz is looking to swing to the middle as a result.
But he flatly denies that his views have changed along with the landscape.
“The media caricature of me as a right-wing bomb-thrower has never been accurate,” Cruz said. “I am working to advance policies that I have long defended, and long advocated for.”
And one GOP strategist from Texas, Brian Steinhauser, doesn’t believe Cruz is changing — just the landscape around them.
“He understands, like we all understand, that Texas is changing,” Steinhauser said.
But don’t take our word for it.
