House Speaker Nancy Pelosi is about to have a revolt on her hands.
And she has nobody to blame but herself.
The radical, so-called “progressive” wing of the Democratic Party has barely tolerated Pelosi’s leadership.
And now they’re learning the hard way what most people in Washington have known for decades.
Pelosi is a hypocrite who is only out for herself. What she says… and what she DOES… are often two very different things.
Reports have surfaced that Pelosi has been secretly working to sabotage a major progressive initiative heading into the 2020 elections — so-called “Medicare for All.”
As Fox News first reported, Pelosi’s health policy advisor Wendell Primus quietly met with health groups back in November and did something shocking.
He actually asked them to begin speaking out against Medicare for All, even as top members of Pelosi’s party (and potential 2020 presidential candidates) were embracing it.
Primus reportedly claimed that the universal health push was an unwelcome distraction to Democrats’ health care message.
This isn’t the first time Pelosi and her team have worked to quietly sabotage progressives. Pelosi famously condemned the “Green New Deal” pushed by New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and others.
But the fact that Pelosi and her henchmen have been undermining Medicare for All, too, is leaving progressives furious.
Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D-Wash.) who had introduced her own Medicare-for-All bill in the House, vowed to get to the bottom of what Pelosi’s been up to.
“I will take it up with our leadership to make sure we’re not undermining members’ bills,” she said.
Good luck with that. Pelosi has been undermining her own members — and only looking out for her own interests — for her entire career.
But with the progressive wing gaining power in the Democratic Party, Pelosi’s self-dealing may finally come back to bite her.
