What was once an idealist fairy tale plan by Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., to spend $93 trillion to remake the entire American economy — the Green New Deal — has become a nightmare.
It’s hitting the Senate floor for a vote thanks to Republicans — and Ocasio-Cortez is very, very angry about it all.
Ocasio-Cortez wanted to write the bill. She wanted to talk about the bill. She wanted to point the finger at conservatives and blame the world’s problems on Republicans.
But when the GOP asked to vote on the bill, she flew into a rage.
“The GOP’s whole game of wasting votes in Congress to target others ‘on the record’, for leg they have no intent to pass, is a disgrace,” she wrote on Twitter.
“Stop wasting the American peoples’ time + learn to govern. Our jobs aren’t for campaigning, & that’s exactly what these bluff-votes are for.”

Of course, the Green New Deal (GND) was a waste of time to begin with. The facts are simple: The GND is an official piece of legislation that the Democrats wanted. They said so.
Now she’s crying about it going to a vote. Is it because she knows the plan — from the banning of cows to the dismantling of airports to rebuilding every single building in the country — was absurd at best?
Democrats have been silent any official plan that would pay for it, apart from the occasional soundbite here and there about stripping the rich and redistributing it for funds.
From the beginning, the legislation was disastrous. Rep. Ocasio-Cortez and Sen. Markey took the time to draft the bill.
The media spent wasted weeks covering it.
Now it’s showtime for the radical Democrats, they’re very mad about it. Ocasio-Cortez is upset because it her allies won’t vote for the deal. Both her and the Republicans now it’s going to be dead embarrassing.
Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-K.Y. is paving the way for a Senate vote, where 60 votes are needed to advance.
All Ocasio-Cortez can do is sit and watch from the House as her bill gets humiliated.
“Nothing encapsulates the Democrat’s hard left turn towards socialism more than the ‘Green New Deal’,” McConnell wrote on Twitter in early March.
“One estimate pegs the cost of this centrally-planned nightmare at around $93 trillion. That’s more than every dollar our federal government has spent in its entire history to date,” McConnell wrote on Twitter in early March.
