“Victimhood is power.”
This statement was the driving force in a brutally honest Tucker Carlson segment on Thursday. The Fox News star snapped at CNN host Don Lemon because Lemon, a liberal newscaster, has continued to call “Empire” actor Jussie Smollett a victim — even after the actor has been arrested for staging a hate crime hoax.
“Why did this happen?” Carlson asked, rhetorically.
“The broader answer, the one we should all think about, meditate on, is that Smollett was simply responding to incentives that American society has created for him,” Carlson said. “Smollett pretended to be a victim because we reward victims.”
And the problem is that Smollett is still being branded a victim by media personalities like Don Lemon.
“Had his hoax succeeded,” Carlson said “There is no doubt Smollett would’ve been richly rewarded for it. He’d probably get a significant bump in pay and an extended segment [with Late Night host Stephen] Colbert. He would’ve been a hero.”
Lemon himself took to the airwaves to whine that Carlson and President Donald Trump will victimize Jussie because he lied.
“Sean Hannity is going to eat Jussie Smollett’s lunch every single second,” Lemon said. “Tucker Carlson is going to eat Jussie Smollett’s lunch every single second. The president of the United States is going to eat his lunch.”

In other words, America is supposed to treat Smollett like a victim… because he was caught lying about being a hate crime victim!
It’s no wonder Americans don’t trust the mainstream media anymore.
This is the mental gymnastics that comes too often from the media, even in the face of a blatant and disgusting lies such as this one. Don Lemon first blamed Trump for the attack on Smollett — and now he blames Trump when police say the hate crime was faked!?
Lemon is crying that his friend is the victim of a self-inflicted wound.
And there’s no apology for the negative accusations Lemon brought upon millions of Americans who support the president after the Smollett story first came out.
Smollett used the Make America Great Again hat to paint the president’s supporters as hate-filled bigots — but nobody on CNN is mentioning that. They probably never will.
And Carlson had enough.
“Don Lemon would very much like to keep up attacks on those people,” Carlson said. “Attacking them allows him to feel oppressed.”
“That is why, when Smollett was finally caught, Lemon reacted in a very puzzling way,” he continued. “He didn’t seem especially concerned that his buddy had lied to further divide the country, to hurt America, which he did. No, that wasn’t the real. The real problem, according to Don lemon, is that Smollett’s arrest might discredit the cult of victimhood.”
