When Sen. Amy Klobuchar D-Minn., new presidential hopeful announced that she was running for president outside in the frigid snow she probably didn’t expect this reaction.
Instead of cheers from Democrats, she was greeted with groans from establishment politicians. And former Sen. Harry Reid previously had a message for Klobuchar: Shape up, or you’ll cost us everything.
In 2015, then-Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid D-NV told her to “change her behavior” after she was described by employees as a “tyrant” (and worse).
To the media, she’s a new, fresh face for liberals to rally around.
But her history as a Senator is coming back to bite her — and her campaign for president may end before it even begins.
For example, a prior staffer of Klobuchar’s Senate campaign in 2006 describes an employee walking on eggshells:
“Especially while in the car during a busy day: if she is EXTREMELY upset about something, let her rant through it, DON’T interrupt [sic] her unless ABSOLUTELY necessary and be careful when trying to calm her down.”
A Politico article from last year called Klobuchar one of the worst bosses in Congress for her infamously high staff turnover rate in Senate.
Reid’s intervention backs up years of testimony that documents Klobuchar’s demeaning professional career.
Perhaps he saw the signs to come. The Democrats have become a party of provokers, such as Maxine Water’s calls for leftists to attack members of the Trump cabinet, which led to an uptick in harassment and violence against President Donald Trump’s administration.
Disastrous campaigns also seem to be a trending trademark of Democrats.
Think Elizabeth Warren claiming American Indian citizenship.
Think Bernie Sanders’ accusations of sexual misconduct and bad conditions on the 2016 presidential campaign.
Think Hillary Clinton’s campaign blunders that same year.
The bulk of the party clearly lacks direction… any directions — and Klobuchar is just one more clawed hand on the wheel.
