Kavanaugh hearing turns into a circus

Lawmakers vowed that they would get to the bottom of the political circus that erupted during Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh’s confirmation hearings last year.

But just four months later, it seems the Senate Ethics Committee is quietly sweeping everything under the rug.

It’s just more of the same from the establishment politicians inside Washington, D.C. — and the move has critics furious.

The Senate Ethics committee quietly announced Wednesday that they will not give punishments to Sen. Cory Booker, D-N.J., for illegally releasing confidential documents during Kavanagh’s confirmation hearing in September.

In an effort to undermine Kavanaugh, Booker had released confidential documents to friendly media sources… and then bragged about it on social media.

“I broke committee rules by reading from ‘Committee confidential’ docs,” Booker proudly tweeted on Sep. 7.

“The classification of many documents as ‘Committee confidential’ is a sham,” Booker later wrote on Sep. 9. “I willfully violate these sham rules. I fully accept any consequences that might arise from my actions including expulsion.”

Outside observers called for the prosecution of Booker for these rule violations.

Now that the public’s attention is elsewhere, his fellow Senators have let him know that there’s no punishment for his crimes. The committee wrote that it had “carefully evaluated the allegations in the complaint and, based on all the information before it, determined that no further action is appropriate.”

“It is an absolute disgrace that the Senate Ethics Committee is giving Senator Booker a pass for willfully violating Senate rules by leaking confidential information to smear Justice Kavanaugh,” Judicial Watch President Tom Fitton said in a statement on the watchdog group’s website.

“The Senate continues the abuse of Kavanaugh and his family by refusing to act against a Senator who, pretending to be Spartacus, violated the rule of law and our Constitution in trying to destroy him,” Fitton said.
