Nancy Pelosi has no answer to THIS wall question

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) continues to play a game of high-stakes chicken with President Donald Trump over border security funding, claiming she can’t fund a wall for “moral” reasons.

“A wall, in my view, is an immorality,” Pelosi said last month. “It’s the least effective way to protect the border and the most costly. I can’t think of any reason why anyone would think it’s a good idea – unless this has something to do with something else.”

Now, one GOP lawmaker is putting Pelosi to the test on those comments.

“If [Speaker Pelosi] thinks the border security wall is immoral, then why doesn’t she sponsor legislation to take down the existing wall between San Diego and Tijuana?” Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) wrote on Twitter.

Pelosi, of course, has not responded to the challenge.

How could she?

If she puts her money where her mouth is and backs a bill removing the wall in her home home state, there will be chaos in San Diego!

The San Ysidro border is one of the busiest on the planet with some 100,000 people crossing ever DAY.

Tijuana – just on the other side – is home to 1.3 million people, with many more in the surrounding areas… and many who would just LOVE a quick and easy way to cross over illegally.

Footage from the area shows migrants on the Mexican side routinely breaching police lines as they make a run for the border, leading to chaotic scenes such as this:

The only thing stopping them from rushing across the border and illegally entering America?

A WALL!

So if Pelosi admits it works there – as it clearly does – she loses the “moral” argument against walls elsewhere.

Not that it’s much of an argument to begin with.

Elaine Duke, who served as both acting secretary and deputy secretary for Homeland Security under President Trump, said border wall construction in Arizona led to measurable real-world results.

“The border in Yuma sector today is more secure because of this investment. Even under lax enforcement standards, apprehensions in fiscal year 2016 were roughly a 10th of what they were in FY 2005 — and are on track to be even lower this year,” she wrote in USA Today last year. “Crime has significantly decreased in the Yuma area, and smugglers now look for other less difficult areas of the border to cross — often areas without fencing.”

Duke is no partisan. Along with serving under Trump, she has also served as under secretary for management in Homeland Security under both presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

If Democrats listen to reason, they’ll see a wall is a bipartisan issue – one that makes sense.

Rep. Jordan said some of them are waking up as resistance weakens among the rank-and-file Democrats.

“I think we’re starting to see signs – a number of House Democrats who won in these tight races in formally Republican-held districts – they’re starting to say, ‘Oh, we do need to get something done,” Jordan said on Fox News. “I think we’re starting to see that happen and that’s the only thing that’s going to change it.”

At least seven House Democrats broke ranks to meet with Trump last week, but it’ll take more than that to make a deal. Only time will tell if enough come to their senses, stop caving in to pressure from the far left and work with the president to reopen the government and fund border security.
