The secret 3-part plan to stop Nancy Pelosi

Despite being unable to deliver on the long-promised “blue wave” in the 2018 midterm elections, Rep. Nancy Pelosi is still gunning for the House Majority Speaker position.

To reinforce wavering support, the California Democrat earlier this year revealed an 85-point “hit list.” She implied that, under her leadership, Democrats would attack President Donald Trump nonstop over the next two years.

But top Republican House leader Rep. Mark Meadows has his own 3-part plan: Stop Pelosi and her allies.

Bloomberg reported that Meadows has begun circulating a secret playbook among political allies on how to counter the anticipated Democratic onslaught.

“Investigations — My Plan to Counter” is a 28-page outline where Meadows details how Republicans can beat Democrats at their own game. Inside, Meadows opens that he is “confident that with the right team and member engagement, our conference will be able to tactically play the Democrats’ politicized activities to our advantage.”

“I believe I can position the committee as an effective platform to win back the House,” Meadows wrote.

Bloomberg reports that Meadows’ 3-part plan is as follows —

  • Describe the Democrats’ subpoenas as unreasonable, overly broad, onerous and designed to embarrass Trump. The document calls for “encouraging less-severe means of conducting investigations, like briefings, bipartisan letters, etc.”

  • Argue that Democrats’ investigations raise concern over separation of powers. He wrote that he’d assert that “the Democrats are interfering too much with presidential duties and have encroached too far on the fundamental powers of the executive branch.”

  • Create a GOP task force. Meadows said the expected overlap of Oversight, Judiciary and Intelligence Committee investigations by Democrats calls out for an informal Republican task force made up of members of those panels and party leaders, “for purposes of information sharing and strategy.”

Meadows goes on to explain that “anticipated Democratic activity” includes 64 Trump-related legal subpoenas that Republicans denied in the past two years.

That includes attempts to obtain documents on personal email use by White House aides and cabinet members, Trump administration documents regarding border policy, inquiries into Trump’s family’s businesses, and more.

Bloomberg reports that the document also outlines that Republicans should prepare by restructuring their committee memberships. Meadows wants to add more legal experts and create “a General Counsel’s office to ensure we are best suited to take on the volume and nature of the challenges Democrats will present.

In other words, Meadows wants Republicans prepared with legal experts that can defend against an all-out legal assault — and defeat them before it gets to the White House.

“We will need a larger team of experienced investigators who will be able to handle the heavy volume and intellectual challenges presented by the Democrats’ attacks,” Bloomberg quoted from the document.

“Americans want their Congress to get things done and focus on their agenda — not on endless, frivolous, and partisan investigations,” the document reads.

Amen.
